Low-cost drivers address 0.5-W LEDs

Specifically designed for driving 0.5-W LEDs, the BCR320 and BCR420 LED drivers feature a negative thermal coefficient contributing to a long lifetime of LEDs. The drivers also have a digital interface for a PWM signal for dimming. The BCR320 offers a peak output current up to 300 mA and an internal breakdown voltage of typically 20 V, while the BCR420 has a nominal output current of 150 mA and an internal breakdown voltage of 50 V.

The BCR320 can be operated at supply voltages of 24 V or higher since the driver is operated in series with the LEDs. The BCR320 is available in SC-74 and SOT-223 packages, while the BCR420 is housed in SC-74s. (Between approx. $0.25 to $0.32 ea/few thousand — contact company for availability.)
