Low-cost MCU tackles BLDC motor control

The S08MP16 8-bit MCU family provides a low cost, intelligent solution for a myriad of brushless DC motor control applications. The ICs three high-speed analog comparators and a powerful eight-channel PWM module provide protection against overcurrent conditions with fast and accurate shutdown.

The chip has 16 Kbytes of flash, a 12-bit A/D converter, two programmable delay blocks, SPI and IIC serial interfaces, a CRC engine, a watchdog/COP with independent clock option, and a programmable gain amplifier. It features a 10- or 15-year longevity program, comes in 28-, 32-, and 48-pin packages, and operates at –40° to 105° or 125°C. (From $1.10 ea/10,000 — available now.)
