Low-cost MCUs feature capacitive-touch control

The R5F21334/335/336 16-bit microcontrollers feature a capacitive-touch control unit with 18 independent channels. The devices have 16. 24, or 32 Kbytes of program flash, 4 Kbytes of data flash, up to 2.5 Kbytes of RAM, and a data transfer controller.

The processors operate at 20 MHz from 2.7 to 5.5 v or 5 MHz at 1.8 to 5.5 V over –20° or –40° to +85°C and take approximately 3.5 ma at 3.0 volts, with a 3.3 ua wait mode. They have 8- and 16-bit timers, up to 12 channels of 10-bit A/D conversion and come in a 32-pin LQFP package. (From $2 ea/10,000 — available Feb. 2010.)
