Low-cost MCUs handle encryption, touch, LCD

The STM8L151/152/162 8-bit MCUs feature a controller for as many as 16 touch-sensitive keys, with options for support for 128-bit AES encryption and an LCD controller that supports larger segments. The devices have 16 to 64 Kbytes of flash.

Common to all the devices is an enhanced real-time clock (RTC) module offering subsecond accuracy, and support for calibration, enabling increased precision. Supply current is only 1.76 mA at 16 MHz, and hardware RTC and automatic wakeup have combined current consumption below 1 µA. A low-power run mode takes just 5.1 µA.
