Low cost optocouplers support communications

The TLP2301 and TLP2303 digital optocouplers offer 20 and 100 Kbits/s data rates in for isolated communication interfaces in factory automation devices, air-conditioners, and smart meters. The small SO6 packaged devices have -40° to 125°C operating range.

The TLP2301 requires an input current of just 1 mA, while the TLP2303 achieves a high current transfer ratio of up to 800% at an input current of 1.6 mA. The devices meet UL1577 safety specification and pricing begins at $0.24 for TLP2301 and $0.38 for TLP2303 in low quantity.
