The PIC16F1579 8-bit microcontroller fits a large number of applications and features four 16-bit PWMs with independent timers and 12-channels of 10-bit A/D conversion. It has 14 Kbytes of flash, 1 Kbyte of RAM, a UART, and a precision internal oscillator running at up to 32 MHz.
The MCU has a voltage reference and a 5-bit D/A converter, and comes in a 4 x 4 mm UQFN16 or UQFN20 package. It operates from 2.3 – 5.5 V, with the eXtreme Low Power ‘LF’ version running on 1.8 – 3.6 V, and takes only 30 uA/MHz, typical, with 20 na sleep mode. It works over -40° to 85°C or -40° to 125°C. From $0.77 ea/5,000. Five other, lower cost versions are available. The Curiosity Development Board (DM164137) is available for just $20.
