Low-power DACs have internal reference

Suited for data acquisition systems, industrial process control and portable instrumentation, the 16-bit DAC8568, 14-bit DAC8168 and 12-bit DAC7568 D/A converters integrate eight channels of precision DACs and include a 2.5-V 2-ppm/°C internal reference (disabled by default), giving a full-scale output voltage range of 2.5 or 5 V. The internal reference has an initial accuracy of 0.004%.

The DACs offers a power-on-reset circuit that ensures the DAC output powers up at either zero scale or midscale until a valid code is written to the device. Additional features include a power consumption of 2.9 mW typ at 3 V, reducing to less than 1 μW in power-down mode. The parts are available in 16-pin TSSOP packages, while the DAC8168/7568 are also available in 14- and 16-pin TSSOP packages. (From $8.20 ea/1,000 — available now.)
