The MSP430FG4270 16-bit RISC MCU integrates a comprehensive range of functions needed for low-cost portable medical diagnostic equipment. The chip functions include a five-channel high-performance 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converter, five differential analog inputs, a 12-bit D/A converter, two configurable op amps, a 16-bit timer, 16-bit registers, a zero-power brownout reset, and an LCD driver.
The processor has a standby power consumption of only 1.1 µA, wakes up from standby in less than 6 µs, and uses only 250 µA at 1 MHz, 2.2 V in active mode. It has 32 Kbytes of flash and 256 bytes of RAM, and comes in QFN or SSOP48 packages. ($3.78 ea/10,000—available now.)
