Low power re-driver shapes up SAS/SATA 6G

The PI3EQX6801 low power 6.5 Gbit/s SATA/SAS signal re-driver IC has programmable equalization and two differential CML channels. The device has adjustable receiver equalization of 0 to 16 dB and continuous step output pre-emphasis and swing control.

The device uses a 1.5 or 3.3 V supply and takes only 162 mW at 1.5 V (600 mV swing). Stand-by mode takes less than 56 μA and auto slumber mode power takes 22.5 mW typical. It comes in a 20-contact TQFN package and operates from -40° to 85°C. ($1.15 ea/10,000 – samples now.)
