Lowest-power differential ADC drivers enable highest-accuracy conversion

Parts for power-sensitive systems consume half the quiescent current of competition

The single-THS4521, dual-THS4522, and quad-THS4524 differential A/D converter drivers are said to provide the industry’s best performance to power ratio by consuming half the quiescent current (1.14 mA/channel) and 22 times less power-down current (20 μA) compared to the competition. The devices increase bandwidth by greater than 30%, providing 145-MHz and 490-V/μs slew rate — suiting them for applications requiring high resolution and precision, such as pressure and flow meters, seismic equipment, and electrocardiogram machines, as well as battery-operated devices.

The parts also improve dynamic range/sensitivity by 44% with a input voltage noise of only 4.6nV/√Hz to minimize distortion. Other benefits include output common mode control, which allows for easy dc coupling, while negative rail input and rail-to-rail output capability simplifies design and shortens development time.

Operating voltage is from a single supply of 3 to 5 V or dual supply of ±1.5 to ±2.5 V. The THS4521 is housed in MSOP and SOIC packages, while the THS4522 and THS4524 are housed in TSSOP packages. (THS4521, $1.10; THS4522, $1.85; THS4524, $3.15 — available now.)
