Lumileds has enhanced its LUXEON 5050 LEDs with improvements in flux and efficacy to meet increasing requirements for higher efficiency and energy cost reduction in streetlights and high-bay fixtures. Typical performance is now 675 lumens (lm) with 172 lm/watt (W) in full bin shipments. Higher performance is available.
The LUXEON 5050 is a 2018 Product of Year award winner, which set the standard for high lm/W for high-bay and street-lighting applications. It also offers low thermal resistance (2K/W), and further enhances performance by removing heat and reducing heat sink requirements. It enables highest-efficacy system design by driving at a low current, and is compatible with low cost and high-efficacy drivers.
In addition, color stability and consistency are critical requirements in most outdoor and sports arena types of applications, said Lumileds. The LUXEON 5050 LEDs are hot-color tested to ensure the LEDs fall within the specified color bins at typical application conditions of 85°C. The LEDs are binned within three-step and five-step MacAdam ellipse, ensuring color uniformity.
The LUXEON 5050 with the round light emitting surface (LES) is offered in color temperatures from 2200K to 6500K at 70, 80, and 90 CRI, and with 6-V or 24-V options. The LEDs are a suitable drop-in replacement for emitters with an industry standard 5 x 5-mm footprint.
