MCU drives advanced engine controls

The MPC5674F 32-bit automotive MCU is intended for a key role in engine control systems that yield better fuel economy and reduced emissions. The chip features 264-MHz clock speed and more than 600 DMIPS — about 10 times the performance level of today’s conventional engine controllers.

The device has 4 Mbytes of flash with ECC, dual 64-channel timing units, quad 12-bit 1-µs A/D converters, and 256 Kbytes of data RAM. It operates at –40° to 125°C and also provides a dual-channel FlexRay controller, four CAN controllers, and dual 64/32-channel DMA controllers. ($17 ea/10,000 — available now.)
