MCU with 1 Mbyte of fast flash targets motor drivers, inverters

The 32-bit SH72867 MCU offers 1 Mbyte of fast flash combined with a 100-MHz CPU, two multifunction timer units with six 16-bit channels, and a three-phase PWM. The chip targets sophisticated single-chip designs for precision motor drives, ac servos, and inverters.

The device features two quadrature-encoder feedback systems and two special channels that can measure dead times at the power stage for maximizing efficiency and preventing destructive operation. The chip’s three 12-bit A/D converters, with a total of 12 channels, have a fast 1.0-µs conversion time, and its superscalar CPU core offers 2.0-DMIPS/MHz performance with an interrupt latency of just six cycles. The SH72867 has 24 Kbytes of RAM and a 3.0 to 5.5-V operating range. It comes in 20 x 20- or 24 x 24-mm 176-pin LQFP packages. ($22 each; volume pricing available in production now.)
