Infineon Technologies AG has extended the support of its AURIX TC3x and TRAVEO T2G microcontroller (MCU) product families from ISO 26262 automotive functional safety to IEC 61508 metrics for industrial safety applications. These MCUs address industrial control systems that need a minimal error rate in harsh environments for safe and secure development by providing a range of integrated hardware functional safety and cybersecurity features.
Both product families now support IEC 61508 hardware and software metrics, including all documentation required for functional safety certification. Infineon’s AUTOSAR Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) low level driver software product also supports the IEC 61508 metrics.
In addition to deployment in the mobility market, Infineon’s AUTOSAR MCAL now enables other functional safety applications including medical devices, industrial drives, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotics, indoor applications like elevators or machinery. The new support enables developers to achieve SIL-1-3 for their industrial applications.
“The demand for minimal errors in harsh environments has tightened up the requirements for industrial control systems,” said Ralf Koedel, vice president microcontroller at Infineon, in a statement. “With the AURIX and TRAVEO families extended support for IEC 61508 metrics, however, developers can count on a series of proven microcontrollers to design safety-critical applications and rely on the available diagnostic analysis documentation (FMEDA & safety manual).”
Infineon is showcasing the AURIX TC3x and TRAVEO T2G microcontrollers at Embedded World, March 14-16, Nuremberg, Germany. The company also will feature its products and solutions for decarbonization and digitalization, along with several TechTalks. The company is exhibiting in Hall 4A, booth #138.
