The CM5160 is said to be the industry’s first interface bridge IC for Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI) and Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) standards. It converts a MDDI client to MIPI host or a CPU output to a MIPI host or creates a WQVGA 24-bit MDDI client (RGB).
The chip permits handsets that use CPUs with MDDI-compatible hosts to interface to LCD modules incorporating either MDDI- or MIPI-based clients. It will generate MIPI DSI pixel stream packets on one or two data lanes, with transfer rates up to 500 Mbits/s and comes in a 128-bump 11 x 12-array wafer-level chip-scale package.
