The mercury-free primary Nickel-Zinc (NiOOH) Button 364 battery system uses nickel zinc cells developed as a cost effective substitute to conventional primary silver oxide (Ag2O) button cells. The cells are manufactured with raw materials, and feature leakage protection, size, shape, and quality standards equivalent to a mercury-free primary silver oxide (Ag2O) system.
The nickel zinc cell pricing is not tied to the volatility inherent in the silver market and is not adversely affected by material cost fluctuations. It is a low voltage power source for watches, medical devices, calculators, toys, remote controls, and laser pointers. The cells feature a voltage level of 1.65V and are available with 8- to 130-mAh capacity, in heights ranging from 2.10 to 5.4 mm, and in weights from 0.23 to 2.33 g.
