Micro-size laser rangefinder has 5-km range

Integrates into rifle scopes or cell phone-sized handheld rangefinders

The ROX series of eye-safe micro laser rangefinder module are designed for turnkey integration by original equipment manufacturers. The detector and laser source module is about the size of a credit card and offers the capability to single-pulse-range a man-sized target to 5 km with a precision of 200 mm. It offers an optional capability to extend ranging to 10 km. Competitive eye-safe rangefinders with similar performance are the size of a shoebox, and rangefinders with comparable size only range to about 50 feet.

The micro-laser rangefinder module can be integrated into rifle scopes or cell phone-sized handheld rangefinders. It features a high-gain, low-noise, InGaAs avalanche photodiode receiver, 30-kW peak power, 100-µJ pulse energy, and diode-pumped solid-state 1535-nm laser. Additionally, it has power consumption of 800 mW while ranging, acquires range data 189,000 times on a single standard CR123 battery, dynamic range of 70 db, and a damage threshold levels of 6 MW/cm2. The module is designed for operation in harsh environments and is qualified to MIL-STD-833 and MIL-STD-202.
