Micron Technology, Inc. unveiled at Insight 2019 the industry’s first silicon-based security-as-a-service platform for protecting internet of things (IoT) edge devices. Targeting cloud-first deployment for automotive and industrial applications, Micron’s Authenta key management service (KMS) enables cloud activation of installed Authenta-enableddevices.
Securing diverse devices across markets such as automotive, enterprise, industrial control, and connected home remains a concern for system OEMs, said Micron, and by enabling the devices to be switched on through a cloud-based service, it mitigates some of the biggest challenges and complexities related to securing devices in an “everything connected” environment.
Authenta KMS, along with its hardware root of trust embedded in NAND and NOR flash devices, allows OEMs to safeguard device functionality at the silicon level, from silicon to the cloud service, so the connected devices are secure from the supply chain to in-field management. The platform allows installed secure flash devices to be activated and managed at the edge through a cloud-based service, enabling platform-hardening and device protection through the entire lifecycle.
Authenta KMS and software development kits are available today.
