Microsoft has agreed to buy Nokia’s mobile phone business for $7.2 billion.

While it might be one of the biggest names in the tech world, Microsoft has struggled long and hard when it comes to breaking into the mobile device market. A lot of the blame can be placed on the company’s slow adoption of the technology, as best evidenced by the fact that it launched its Surface tablet PCs in 2012, years past the initial launch of the iPad and other similar devices.
This deal, though, solidifies the notion that moving forward the company’s number one focus is on the development of mobile technologies.
