Mid-range scopes shine with speed and memory
With bandwidths to 500 MHz, compact, cost-effective instruments can update at up to 106 waveforms/s and work as mixed-signal units
Building on sampling rates to 2 Gsamples/s, DLM2000 Series oscilloscopes lay claim to having the deepest memory — optionally to 125 Mpoints — and fastest update rate — up to one million waveforms per second — in their class. Deep memory lets the scopes record, say, a 10-kHz input for up to 1 hour, 23 min, 20 s.
The economically priced series consists of six instruments: 200-, 350-, and 500-MHz models with two or four channels. Four-channel models provide mixed-signal operation by converting the fourth channel’s analog input to 8-bit logic (a 12-bit resolution mode is also available) and using logic probes with individual bit-threshold setting and 100-kΩ input impedance at 250 MHz.
The usefulness of analog and digital inputs is augmented by a large (8.4-in.) XGA display — with high luminance and viewing angle as well as zoom windows with 80:20 or 50:50 zoom/main area split — in a compact portrait-format housing. The ergonomic design provides ease of use while taking up less bench space.
The scopes feature a number of advanced measurement and analysis features, including a variety of easy-to-configure triggers combining analog and logic inputs, histogram and trending functions, up to 20,000 history memories, digital filtering, user-defined mathematics, and serial bus analysis. (From $4,250 — available now.)
