Delivering overtemperature protection in an ultra-small package, the TCO devices offer an advanced level of resettable, accurate and repeatable protection for a range of automotive heater circuit-based applications. The Model SD Series comes in a surface-mount package, and the Model AD Series is available in an axial leaded/weldable package.

Both series offer non-automatically resettable (self-hold) or automatically resettable (non-self-hold) function options. They also offer a very wide trip temperature range of 55°C to 150°C. Resistance is rated at 4 milliohms maximum.

The combination of the miniature package size and wide trip temperature makes them suitable for heater circuits that previously did not have overtemperature protection or had to use bulky traditional solutions, said Bourns.

Available now, the Model AD and SD Series mini-breakers control excessive current virtually instantaneously, up to rated limits, according to the datasheets. They offer high corrosion resistance and offer a wide range of temperature options (The setting of the trip temperature and the reset temperature can be adjusted on request.) They are RoHS compliant and halogen free.
