The OCTEON III MIPS64 family of 1 to 48-core 64-bit processors deliver up to 4x higher application performance compared to the previous generation. The 2.5-GHz OCTEON III CN7000 series interfaces include multiple ports of 40, 20, 10, and 1G Ethernet, Interlaken, Interlaken/LA, SRIO, PCIe Gen3, SATA 6G, and USB 3.0.
The chips feature four 72-bit DDR3/4 memory controllers and as many as 500 dedicated hardware engines for packet processing, QoS security, compression, and deep packet inspection are included. The devices provide up to 50+-Gbit/s compression/decompression performance. (Price not given samples 2nd qtr.)
