Mobile processor SoC advances imaging, DSP

The Snapdragon 820 low power processor SoC includes the Hexagon 680 DSP for efficient execution of advanced imaging features including wide vector SIMD extensions, low light video, and HDR image processing. Efficient multithreaded architecture enables concurrent execution of audio and imaging tasks with up to 3X performance improvement and 10X power savings over the previous version. 

The chips Adreno GPU and spectra camera ISP (image signal processor) bring significant performance, power efficiency, and user experience advances. Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX) further advances computer vision with performance/mW substantially better than the CPU. The 680 DSP block includes a low power island for always-on sensor-based applications that requires one-third the power of a standard configuration.
