Modem chip for power line communications

Modem chip for power line communications

The ST7536 is a dedicated frequency-shift keying (FSK) modem chip for
power line data communications applications. It operates at data rates of
600 or 1,200 bits/s in half-duplex mode with carrier frequencies in the 70
to 90-kHz band. The ST7536 uses synchronous transmission, automatic
transmit level control, and self-adjusting switched-capacitor band-pass
filters. A control pin is used to set the bit rate and another pin selects
one of two different frequency pairs. The device is available in 28-pin
plastic DIPs and PLCCs. (Less than $10 ea/5,000–samples available now.)
