Modem offloads host computer

The V92HU USB hardware modem uses a DSP to offload operation from the host computer. The card measures just 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.25 in. and has no connectors. A standalone version, the V92HU-E, measures 1.4 x 2.5 x 1.0 in. and is enclosed with USB interface and RJ-11 phone jacks.

The device is CDC compliant and supported by Microsoft CDC modem drivers and Linux CDC-ACM drivers. It is USB hot swappable and supports V.92 analog data, V.44 data compression, 14.4-kbit/s fax, and remote telephone answering machines. (From $49 ea/1,000—available now.)
