Device output voltage margining helps maximize system reliability

The SMM151, SM152, and SM153 environmental-monitoring devices provide digital power supply monitoring and control functions, using I2 C for communication. They measure system input current and eliminate the efficiency and accuracy issues associated with monitoring output current.

Monitors provide real-time power info for high-reliability apps

The monitoring devices are suitable for high-reliability environments that require real-time power intelligence, high-accuracy monitoring, and system protection to ensure high performance and zero downtime. Typical applications include computing, computing servers, wireless and wireline routers, switches, storage servers, and telecom equipment, as well as other “high-reliability” applications using high-performance ASICs, CPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs.

The SMM151/2/3 operate directly from 2.7 to 5.5-V input, butr the current sense input can accept voltages from 4.0 to 15 V. The devices are available in a 5 x 5-mm QFN package. The SMM151 and SMM152 devices provide output voltage margining with a range of 0.3 to 5 V. They provide 1% or better accuracy control of the output voltage. The SMM151 and SMM152 allow margining control via I2 C commands or with two dedicated pins. The SMM152 and SMM153 integrate four general-purpose I/Os. (Ea/1,000: SMM151, $3.49; SMM152, $3.79; SMM153, $2.79 available now.)
