The Prodigy multiaxis motion control card for dc brush, brushless dc, step, and microstepping motors provides real-time high-speed servo trace capture using a 40-Kbyte dual-port memory. The trace feature allows up to four 16- or 32-bit motion variables to be stored at the same time, and 28 separate parameterssuch as position, velocity, acceleration, and servo lagcan be selected for trace.
The PCI or PC/104 format cards can control one to four axes and have trajectory generation, servo loop closure, quadrature signal input, motor output signal generation, on-the-fly changes, S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring, electronic gearing, and user-generated profile modes. Servo loop rates reach 50 µs/axis, and the cards have an 8-Mcount/s quadrature encoder input rate, six-step and sinusoidal commutation, a PID filter with feed-forward, and dual biquad filters.
