The MPLAB X integrated development environment for Microchip PIC processors of all types is a new release with significant updates. First, the toolset now runs on the Linux and Mac OS, in addition to Windows, and it has enhanced network support. The package includes a C compiler, a programmers editor, source level debug, and a project manager.
The package uses the NetBeans platform for versatility and now has the ability to manage multiple projects and tools with simultaneous debugging. It also features an advanced editor, visual call graphs, automatic formatting, and smart code completion. (Current version beta, version 1.0 August — no charge.)
