Multifunction IC does PCIe, XGA display

The MCS9950 multifunction PCIe controller provides a one-lane (x1) 2.5-Gbit/s PCIe bus along with a programmable XGA-compatible display controller at up to 1,024 x 768, up to four serial ports, a parallel port, and eight GPIOs. The IC’s PCIe configuration registers and device options can be set from an external EEPROM through a dedicated I2 C interface.

The chip’s display interface provides an LVDS-based flat-panel display link, and it supports a 13-pin proprietary interface for I/O expansion. The device comes in a 176-LQFP RoHS package and operates at –40° to 85°C from 1.2- and 3.3-V supplies. ($12.50 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
