C&K, a designer and manufacturer of electromechanical switches, has introduced its new SAM series multiway switch. Key features of the new series include “seamless integration, direct motor management based on single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) contacts, and flexible mechanical characteristics” that include travel, shaft shape, and dimensions.

The SAM series switch eliminates the need for relay switches, reducing the amount of hardware required to power the device being controlled, according to the company. Target applications include automotive, off-road vehicles, avionics, industrial controls, and motorized health-care devices.

The SAM series switch includes two-or four-way actuation, power contact technology for direct motor actuation, direct mounting capability on a PCB, a spring-loaded shaft that reduces noise from vibration, different shaft lengths and shapes to allow for simple integration, and a variety of haptic ranges.

The series boasts strong PCB mounting and THT terminals, which the company claims will provide a high level of durability for automotive applications. For customers that require a more customized product, C&K offers extra features such as signal, low profile, and improved haptics for power contacts.

The SAM switches can be ordered off the shelf. However, different versions are customizable for haptic and button interface modulation.
