Murata Recognizes Arrow Electronics, Digi-key and Avnet At EDS; Distributor Awards Mark Significant Contributions and Achievements

Smyrna, GA, June 22, 2011 – Murata Electronics North America today announced that it has recognized three companies with Distributor Awards for Fiscal Year 2011. Arrow, Digi-Key and Avnet were selected from Murata’s North American network of distributors for outstanding sales expansion and overall contribution to the company. The awards were presented last month at the Electronic Distribution Show and Conference (EDS) in Las Vegas.

Arrow Electronics was selected as the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award to mark the exemplary commitment to Murata in categories ranging from management engagement to field execution. The company’s overall contribution was tremendous across the board, having increased Murata’s positioning and internal growth exponentially. Additionally, Arrow leveraged their technology experience to meet dynamic market needs, all the while keeping the component supplier top of mind with customers.

One of the fastest-growing electronic component distributors in the world, Digi-Key was presented with the Outstanding Sales Increase Award. In looking at year over year expansion, the company achieved 200 percent sales growth, while adding more than 4,000 customers. Moreover, Digi-Key’s aggressive strategy placed Murata products very strongly and deeply within the engineering community.

Finally, Avnet received the Long-Term Service Partnership Award to mark a 30-year tenure – a first of its kind for Murata. Throughout this run, Avnet has continually positioned Murata products successfully to its more than 100,000 customers worldwide.

“A key component of Murata’s ongoing success is expanding our customer base by getting the right products into the hands of the right customers,” said Tony Coalson, senior vice president, sales Americas, Murata Electronics North America. “Despite the market challenges that exist, the commitment, tenacity and vision of these three companies are exemplary. We applaud Arrow, Digi-Key and Avnet and know absolutely that they are working models of how to help foster a successful supplier-distributor relationship.”
