Have you ever wanted to listen to music in a bubble?

The creators of the Wall of Sound iPhone speaker have developed AudioOrb, a new way for listeners to interface with their music while being totally immersed in sound. AudioOrb is a sphere constructed from Plexiglass that forces you to enjoy your music from the contained comfort of literally your own little bubble.

AudioOrb contains 18 high-fidelity speakers, allowing listeners to block out the world’s noises while listening to audio content. Users enter the AudioOrb through a hole cut in the side of the device. The Orb is lined with memory-foam cushions for the user’s comfort, and the sphere cancels any outside noise.

The Scandinavian Creative Lab, Studio Total (ST), developed the AudioOrb, as they were inspired by the Micasa Lab Cocoon for item storage. They replaced the storage areas with speakers, and voilà, the AudioOrb was born. At present, only five AudioOrbs are scheduled for production. Prior to this development, ST created the Wall of Sound, the largest iPhone speaker in the world. That speaker could produce 130dB of sound, the same level of sound that an F-15 jet makes! ST’s other existing products in production include an interesting cellphone, a flying carpet, and a system for energy storage.

AudioOrbs is currently raising money on Indiegogo, attempting to meet their goal of $30,000 in 54 days. Contributors who donate $15,000 or more will receive an Orb prototype.
