MWIR camera module delivers fast integration

Teledyne FLIR’s latest Neutrino MWIR camera module enables fast integration into commercial, industrial, and defense applications.

Teledyne FLIR has extended its mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) camera module portfolio for defense and industrial applications with the launch of its latest Neutrino IS series module. The new Neutrino LC CZ 15-300 camera module with an integrated continuous zoom (CZ) lens is designed for long range, SD, or HD MWIR imaging that requires a small form factor for integration with airborne, unmanned, C-UAS, and ISR hardware, including for targeting applications.

All Neutrino IS products include a Teledyne FLIR CZ lens integrated with a Neutrino SWaP Series camera module (VGA or SXGA) that are designed for each other and are optimized for size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP+C). The camera module measures 19.25 × 9.91 × 10.59 cm (7.58 × 3.90 × 4.17 in) and weighs 1324 grams. The spectral band ranges from 2.4 – 5.1 μm, with a CO2 notch from 4.15 – 4.55 μm. The horizontal field of view is 1.8° to 35.5° (actively athermalized over the operating temperature ). The operating temperature ranges from -20°C to 70°C.

“The Neutrino IS series portfolio and our ability to combine our off-the-shelf MWIR cameras and lenses provide integrators faster time to market, superior performance, and lower cost,” said Dan Walker, vice president of product management, Teledyne FLIR, in a statement. “This model launch demonstrates our rapid integration capability from a single supplier, taking what once required multiple suppliers and more than two years to complete.”

The Neutrino LC CZ 15-300 is based on the company’s high operating temperature (HOT) focal plane array (FPA) technology, offering 640 × 512 (15 μm pitch) HD MWIR imagery and a 15 mm to 300 mm CZ lens for ruggedized products that require long life, low power consumption, and quiet, low vibration operation. It also features a long-life FL-100 linear cryocooler with an a two-year warranty.

All Neutrino series are classified under U.S. Department of Commerce jurisdiction as EAR 6A003.b.4. They are not subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), according to the company.

Development kits and evaluation boards are available. Teledyne FLIR also provides integration support and expertise throughout the development and design cycle.
