Hammond Manufacturing has introduced the HYJ Series 304 stainless steel enclosures for use in manufacturing areas that need to maintain hygiene standards and avoid contamination build-up. The enclosures can withstand regular high temperature and high-pressure washdowns.
Meeting UL 508A Type 3R, 12, 4 and 4X, NSF – ANSI 169, and IEC 60529 IP69/IP69K standards, the HYJ series 304 family is initially available in five sizes from 7.94 × 4.88 × 4.00 to 16.36 × 13.30 × 8.00 inches (202 × 124 × 102 to 416 × 338 × 203 mm). The symmetric rectangular design enables the units to be vertically or horizontally surface mounted. All sides slope to ensure that water drains off after spray cleaning, and a super-smooth finish stops water pooling, said the company.
For easier cleaning, the stainless steel enclosures don’t have slotted screw heads, quarter turn latches or welded mounting brackets that can be difficult to clean and the front cover is secured to the body with crevice-free hex head bolts fitted with an external silicone washer. In addition, the design eliminates difficult to clean areas behind the enclosure with stand-offs, available in four different lengths, that ensures the enclosure is fixed well proud of the wall so all faces can be washed down, said the company.
In addition, the enclosures feature a blue-colored “hygiene” silicone gasket that is fitted beyond the cover edges. The gasket can be removed for cleaning or replacement.
The company also launched the complementary HYPB pushbutton family for machine and process control. They are available with 22.5 or 30.5-mm holes arranged in a single row of one, two, three or four holes; two rows with four holes arranged in two rows of two, and two rows with six holes arranged in two rows of three.
