Everyone's familiar with those days when everything seems to go wrong and the hours drag on. High stress levels can be damaging to your health, but balancing them may soon be easier than you've ever imagined. In just a few weeks, the mobile app Inner Balance, by HeartMath, will be available to harmonize your response to stress.
HearthMath's Inner Balance app in action
Powered by the HeartMath Sensor for iOS and using the company's emWave technology, your stress levels are monitored by tracking your pulse rate. To start the process, you attach the sensor to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, and clip the supplied ear pulse pickup to your earlobe.
After launching the app, you enter your current mood and then run a session focusing on a positive moment. As you're coached through a session, you'll see your heart rate variability (HRV) pattern as it reflects emotional fluctuations, and your heart coherence levels on the top of the screen. The large, colorful wheel in the center will help you pace your breathing, and the circular marks around the wheel show your different levels of coherence. After three minutes of training, the circle will complete and the session will end. Then you can see your session summary, and even document your journey and moods in the journal tab.
With Inner Balance, you can save and view each session
The science behind the app
Focusing on positive emotions while synchronizing your breathing with the rhythms of your heart has been shown to reduce negative effects of stress and improve relaxation. By improving the balance between your heart and mind, you'll gain improved well-being, clarity of thought, and a balanced response to stress.
Other details
To function, Inner Balance requires the HeartMath Sensor for iOS. The HeartMath Sensor uses the iPhone and iPad 30 pin connector, and also requires an adapter for devices with the Lightning connector. Inner Balance is expected to be available on February 28th.
