New Apple debuts: iPad Pro, Apple TV, Apple Watch

Apple unveils a larger iPad, a TV box with its own app store, and smartwatch upgrades.

Apple’s September 2015 fall convention in San Francisco, Calif. unveiled several anticipated products, including the iPhone 6s and 6s plus, the iPad Pro, a revamped Apple TV, and updates to the Apple Watch.

Here is a look inside the new products they released:

iPad Pro:

As expected, the iPad Pro is a larger, faster tablet, measuring 12.9 inches. Starting at $799, the screen has 5.6 million pixels, which is more than that of a 15-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display. Inside is a new A9X 64-bit chip that is 1.8 times faster than the previous iPad's CPU and powerful enough to edit three streams of 4k video at a time. The iPad Pro is ultra-thin, weighs just over 1.5 pounds, and has a battery life of up to 10 hours.

It is big enough to have a full-size keyboard on the screen, but if you don’t want to type on there, Apple has also made a new smart magnetically-connected keyboard that doubles as a cover, coated with a thin fabric.

The company also created its own stylus for the iPad, the Apple Pencil, which has sensors in its tip to help mimic the effects of using a real pencil.

As the name suggests, the iPad Pro is intended to target business users.

Apple TV:

Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook unveiled a new Apple TV that features a third-party App Store, a new remote, Siri controls, and an overhauled operating system.

“We believe the future of television is apps,” said Cook.

The TV will run on tvOS, which is based on iOS and designed for the living room, and will begin shipping in October 2015 at a cost of $149 for the 32 GB version and $199 for the 64 GB.

The device uses a remote control that features a glass touch-sensitive panel, so you can navigate the Apple TV by swiping, and a microphone, which allows it to also be voice-operated. Activated via Bluetooth, the remote has volume control, a built-in accelerometer, and a gyroscope. It lasts three months on a full charge, and can be recharged through a Lightning connector.

As with iPhones, the Apple TV will also now use Siri, and she can search across all apps so you will not have to jump between HBO Go and Netflix if you’re looking for something specific. Siri can also make movie and TV suggestions based on genre.

The largest advancement for the new Apple TV is the third-party apps. You can now use the device to play multiplayer games, shop directly via the Gilt app, and utilize the MLB app to watch multiple games at a time with pop-up notifications and interactive stats.

Apple Watch:

Launched in April 2015, the Apple Watch now has more than 10,000 watch apps and some new additions. For the fashionistas, the device will now come in gold and rose gold, as well as have the option for a wrap-around brown leather Hermès band, all which will be available in October.

The smartwatch will upgrade to the new operating system, Watch OS 2, which will allow third-party apps to run natively on the device rather than relying on a linked smartphone's processor. Aside from running quicker, the apps gain the ability to play video and access the watch’s microphone and sensors.

As far as apps, Facebook Messenger will now be available, allowing you to send texts, audio, and location messages. GoPro’s app acts as a viewfinder for the camera, iTranslate lets you to speak a word and get a translation, and AirStrip is a new tool designed for medical professionals.

Which new device will you be getting within the next upcoming weeks?
