New Gadget Monitors your entire life–literally

Sony SmartBand lets you effortlessly record everything you do

If there is one gadget desperately needed in our world, it’s a wearable wristband that keeps track of literally every single thing we do our entire lives, and then records those things onto the Internet forever, for posterity. Well, thank God for Sony:

Sony SmartBand 2

Not only is the technology Goliath showing off a new smartphone and a new tablet at this year’s Mobile World Congress, but they’ve just unveiled the SmartBand SWR10, the wristband that will ensure you and the Internet grow even closer.

SmartBand, which you might vaguely remember being discussed at CES back in January, is designed to be worn every hour of every day—it’s even waterproof, in spite of the open micro-USB port. You can pair the band with your smartphone using either Bluetooth or NFC, and once you combine it with Sony’s Lifelong app, you can use it to log all of your activities: your sleep cycle, what music you’ve listened to that day, what games you’ve played, what places you’ve been to. Which it will do every day, for the rest of your life.

That’s…not at all terrifying and Skynet-esque

The band can also alert you of incoming calls, messages, and tweets as well as pause or play your music, so aside from its ability to digitally record your life with far less fuss than the ways you usually digitally record your life, it functions pretty much like any other high-tech wristband nowadays.

SmartBand comes in any color you want, as long as it’s black. According to Mashable, the device will be available for sale this upcoming March, with their new Lifelog app also becoming available on Google Play that month.

But until March, I guess we’re just going to have to painstakingly record every detail of our lives on the Internet the old-fashioned way. Stay strong.
