New mobile app reads emails aloud

Hands-free, voice-controlled mobile app listens and reads emails on command

For most people, it’s not easy to keep up with the flood of email they receive on a daily basis. And it’s not just business employees who are expected to keep on top of them. There are moms and dads busy with kids, daily commuters who have to keep their eyes on the road, and students buried in projects and essays, all juggling various tasks and drowning in emails.

To address this issue, Talkler Labs, LLC, recently launched Talkler, a hands-off, voice-controlled mobile app that reads emails aloud when you’re on the go. It is iOS compatible and suitable only for iPhone and iPod touch, and optimized for iPhone 5 and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

Purpose

Many employees are expected to check their email multiple times per day. As a result, it’s estimated that about 90 million Americans use their mobile phones in order to keep up with the constant accumulation of inbox messages.

Talkler addresses the way in which people access their email and makes this hourly chore a bit more convenient.

Truthfully, an app like this couldn’t come at a better time, what with increased concerns about texting behind the wheel. Talkler makes it safe for the multitasker in all of us to continue to do three things at once — just a bit safer now.

Specific to driver safety, the folks behind the app designed the program to allow users the ability to swipe or tap just about any part of the screen in order to listen to emails. Talkler also uses on-device processing, meaning it understands voice commands while traveling through cell phone dead zones. To get the app’s attention — and gain access to its 30-plus voice commands — the user simply says, “Hey Talkler”, after which he or she can then tell it what to do. With its 20/20 hearing, Talkler will accurately understand commands to read, skip over, reply-to, and delete emails.

Talkler is optimized for Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, and iCloud (with more on the way), making it a quick and easy iOS app to set up.
