The upgraded R-78C switching regulator now offers an input voltage range to 42 Vdc and doubles the output power to 15 W/cm3 in the same size case. It offers 96% efficiency when the input/output voltage variance is a few volts, offers >90% efficiency over the entire input voltage range, and has a nearly constant efficiency when the load varies between 20% and 100%.
The switching regulator features 20- to 40-mVp-p output ripple and meets Class B EMC with a low-pass filter. The standard output voltage options are 1.8, 3.3, 5, 9, 12 and 15-V all with 1-A continuous output current and 3-A peak current. The output is overload and short-circuit protected. The ambient operating temperature extends from −40° to +85°C and needs no heat-sink. The converter is EN60950 certified. (Contact company for price and availability.)
