NI Single-Board RIO platform features LabVIEW programming

Single-board computers target embedded control and data acquisition apps

The NI Single-Board RIO boards bring, for the first time, CompactRio programmable automation controller processing and LabVIEW programming to a single-board computer. The cards target embedded control and data acquisition applications and combine a 266- or 400-MHz Freescale MPC5200 real-time processor, a 1- or 2-Mgate FPGA, and analog and digital I/O on a 8.2 x 3.7 or 5.6-in. board.

The LabVIEW graphical system design platform can be used to customize the board and develop software, significantly reducing design time. The board has 64 or 128 Mbytes of RAM and optional data acquisition with 32 analog inputs and four outputs. The card has three connectors for C-Series I/O modules, of which there are more than 40 types, and includes the VxWorks real-time operating system.

System development can be done on a CompactRio platform and then moved to the board. The devices operate from –20° to 55°C and have a 19 to 30-Vdc power input and a real-time clock with battery backup. (From $1,000 ea/100 — available now.)
