For everyone who has ever experienced the frustration caused by the difficulty of transporting gaming systems, Nvidia has produced a tablet to end your struggles.
The Nvidia Shield Tablet is a slate made specifically for gamers, features an eight-inch, 1920×1200, high-definition LCD display, as well as two front-facing speakers, and the ability to use the Nvidia cloud to stream games from a PC or notebook. It also connects to a wireless controller, and has a cover that converts into a stand, contributing to the feeling that you are using an actual gaming system and not a tablet.
This trailer released by Nvidia shows some of the tablet’s gaming capabilities in action:
The tablet itself costs $299, and the wireless controller and stand are $60 and $40, respectively. $400 may seem like a lot, but Nvidia seem to be pretty confident in their product. CEO Jen-Hsun Hsuang said “[The Nvidia Shield tablet] delivers exceptional tablet performance and unique gaming capabilities to keep even the most avid gamers deeply immersed, anywhere they play.”
