February 10, 2014 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the new NXP Semiconductor LPC11E37H and LPC11U37H 32-bit microcontrollers, running at 50MHz and based on the ARM Cortex-M0 core. These microcontrollers feature a new, innovative I/O Hander module which can emulate different peripherals such as a DMA, full-duplex UART, I²C, and I²S.
The new NXP 32-bit LPC11E37H and LPC11U37H microcontrollers (MCUs) available from Mouser Electronics are based on a 50MHz ARM Cortex-M0 core. The Cortex-M0 targets simple to moderately complex applications and is easy to learn with only 56 instructions. NXP has built upon this with the LPC11E37H/LPC11U37H by adding up to 128Kbytes of Flash memory and up to 12Kbytes of SRAM. 4KBytes of EEPROM are available for non-volatile data storage. The LPC11U37H includes everything on the LPC11E37H while also including a Full-Speed USB2.0 port. Both devices have 16Kbytes of boot ROM to assist in In-System Programming (ISP), as well as In-Application Programming (IAP) for updating code in the field.
A new I/O Handler (IOH) module is a hardware engine that adds peripheral flexibility to these MCUs. The IOH is able to emulate a variety of useful hardware functions including an I²C master, full-duplex UART, and I²S master transmit. The IOH can also emulate a DALI master. DALI (Digitally Addressable Lighting Interface) is a new serial protocol used for efficient lighting control in industrial automation. The IOH also can also emulate a CRC engine, DMA, and more.
Other features of the LPC11E37H and LPC11U37H include a 12MHz internal RC oscillator, a 10-bit ADC, and multiple low-power modes. Target applications include small consumer devices, handheld scanners, medical devices, industrial control, and USB audio devices.
