NXP Semiconductors doubles mobile-data access speed for consumers with new 2×2 MIMO mobile WiMAX transceivers

NXP Semiconductors, announced the availability of its complete WiMAX 2×2 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output)-powered family of transceivers for mobile and handheld applications. In support of the mass deployment of mobile WiMAX, NXP’s new family of transceivers employ 2×2 MIMO technology, allowing for twice the data throughput and double the maximum speed of the company’s existing WiMAX transceiver solutions.

Delivering on the promise of mobile WiMAX, transceiver combines industry’s lowest power and small footprint

NXP’s transceiver solutions will allow WiMAX infrastructure OEMs and ODMs to implement more robust WiMAX functionality, while achieving unparalleled savings in overall power, board real-estate and system costs.

One of few 2×2 MIMO WiMAX solutions in the industry, NXP’s new family of UXA234xx WiMAX transceivers improves reach and drives greater bandwidth and spectral efficiency, being particularly effective for accessing a WiMAX connection in dense urban areas. Further, because 2×2 MIMO allows for dual input and output channels, it addresses the requirements of bandwidth-intensive mobile applications, such as streaming data, voice and video data, without compromising network load and at a much lower cost to carriers.
