Onsemi expands EliteSiC portfolio

Onsemi has released a new family of 1200-V EliteSiC MOSFETs and half-bridge power modules for EVs and energy infrastructure applications.

Onsemi has launched its latest generation of 1200-V EliteSiC silicon carbide (SiC) M3S devices, targeting electric vehicles (EVs) and energy infrastructure applications. Designed for higher efficiency and lower system cost, the portfolio includes EliteSiC MOSFETs and power modules that enable higher switching speeds to support 800-V EV on-board chargers (OBCs) and energy infrastructure applications, such as EV charging, solar and energy storage systems.

The EliteSiC M3S devices also include half-bridge power integrated modules (PIMs), claiming the lowest Rds(on) in a standard F2 package. Designed for industrial applications, the modules target DC/AC, AC/DC and DC/DC high power conversion stages and deliver high power density in energy infrastructure, EV DC fast charging and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

The M3S technology has been developed specifically for high-speed switching applications, said onsemi. The EliteSiC M3S products provide higher levels of integration, enabling designers to reduce their application footprint, with optimized direct bonded copper designs to enable balanced current sharing and thermal distribution between parallel switches, reducing system cooling requirements.

The automotive-qualified 1200-V EliteSiC MOSFETs are tailored for high-power OBCs up to 22 kW and high voltage to low voltage DC/DC converters.

Last month, onsemi released new simulation tools for the EliteSiC SiC product family, making it easier for designers to develop complex power electronics applications. With the new tools, the company claims industry-first PLECS models and system-level simulation for hard and soft switching applications.

Focused on sustainable power solutions, onsemi is exhibiting at the PCIM conference, May 9-11, in Hall 9, booth #330. The company also will showcase several demonstrations.
