Op amp features high accuracy for energy efficient power conversion

STMicroelectronics’ high-accuracy op amp targets energy-efficient power conversion circuits and optical sensors.

STMicroelectronics recently released the TSV7722 precision, high-bandwidth operational amplifier (op amp) with a gain-bandwidth of 22 MHz and slew rate of 11 V/μs. These features make the TSV7722 well-suited for high-speed signal conditioning and accurate current measurement in power-conversion circuits and optical sensors.

Other key specifications include a maximum input-offset voltage of 200 µV (typical 50 µV at 25°C) and extremely low input-voltage noise density of 7 nV/√Hz for accurate low-side current measurements. The typical input bias current of 2 pA enables accurate photodiode-current measurement in optical-sensing applications such as smoke detectors, said ST. Fully specified on a load of 47 pF, the TSV7722 can be used as an input buffer for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).

STMicroelectronics TSV7722 op ampThe TSV7722 op amp, with an operating voltage range of 1.8 V-5.5 V, can be powered from the same supply as low-voltage CMOS components, such as a microcontroller, or from a deeply discharged battery. In addition, the precision parameters and stability over temperature can simplify circuit design by ensuring high accuracy without precision resistors or trimming after assembly, according to the company.

The high accuracy and responsive current measurements help to enhance energy efficiency in applications such as automotive smart mobility, solar panels, telecom infrastructure, and computer servers. Automotive-qualified devices will be available in the second half of 2021. The TSV7722 is included in ST’s 10-year longevity program for long-term component supply.

The TSV7722, available in MiniSO8 and DFN8 packages, is in production now. The op amp is priced from $0.39 in quantities of 1,000. Click here for more information about ST’s op amp product line.
