Opteron quad-core CPUs offer 55 W ACP

Five 45-nm quad-core Opteron HE processor versions feature 55-W average CPU power. The chips target server platforms and have clock speeds ranging from 2.1 to 2.3 GHz.

Designated the models 8376, 8374, 2376, 2374, and 2372 HE, the socket F chips have a 6-Mbyte L3 cache and a 2-Gtransfer/s system bus. Server platforms based on these processors are said to offer up to 20% lower idle power. ($316 to $1,514 — available now.)
