Optimizing Switched Measurements

On-board Test Script Processors in the latest source measurement units (SMUs) allow message-based programming, much like SCPI, with enhanced capabilities for controlling test sequencing/flow, decision making, and instrument autonomy with the use of user-defined test scripts. This application note address how switching to TSP-based instruments and using TSP programming best practices can produce up to a fourfold improvement in test system throughput in some circumstances. It also presents a variety of programming/throughput scenarios to allow users to select the most appropriate approaches for their applications. ■
