OLEDs up, TFT-LCDs down
A recent report by IHS says that flat panel revenues will decline sharply this year and that OLEDs will show a revenue increase. Thin-film-transistor (TFT) LCDs revenue is expected to decline 3% this year from last year, but expectations are for growth in 2016. The report also says that plasma, CRT, passive-matrix LCD, and even electronic paper display are expected to show revenue declines. IHS says that to regain profitability, the FPD industry must shift from growth to cost reduction. The bright-spot is the active-matrix OLEDs that grew 36% from last year to this year. Passive-matrix OLED is expected to grow a healthy 22% in the same time frame. The reason for the substantial growth has to do with the inclusion of OLEDs in smart phones, TVs, tablet PCs, and wearable devices. Five reasons for using synthetic diamonds in your next design
Synthetic diamonds offer the world’s highest room-temperature thermal conductivity. But that’s just one of its remarkable physical properties that makes it capable of delivering extreme performance across a variety of applications. The devices feature a very wide transmission range of wavelengths and extreme hardness and enable a synthetic diamond to be used for a high-power laser windows, water purification and electrochemical sensing. Find out what the five reasons are to consider using it for your designs.
