Panasonic announces the CG-320A Pin-Type Li-ion battery featuring a nominal capacity 15.0 mAh with a diameter of 3.65 mm, length of 20 mm, and a weight of 0.6 g. The battery is suitable for powering small applications such as wearable devices. The cylindrically shaped rechargeable Li-ion battery features the reliability and output required for near-field communications (NFC).
These pin-type batteries were introduced by Panasonic in late 2014 but didn’t become available in production quantities until mid-2015. The CG-320A is the latest version of the pin-type line. It seems to be just in time for the full-scale introduction of wearable device products, anticipated widely as the next wave in mobile devices after smartphones. Rechargeable batteries, the power source for wearable devices, will be small and light as well as feature a high level of reliability and performance. An exterior stainless-steel can provides dimensional stability. Applications include wearable devices, electronic pens, hearing aids, measuring devices, NFC, and specialty eyewear. The standard voltage range is 3.0 to 4.35 V, with a stop charging requirement of 4.45 V and a do-not-discharge voltage of below 2.7 V.
