Parrot’s new bird: The Disco

Company comes out with new drone at CES 2016

Many think of Parrot as the king of consumer drones, especially after the success of their AR Drone and AR Drone 2.0.And at CES 2016, it has announced a new drone: The Disco

The drone is a fixed wing design is quite different from the AR line, combining the flying wing design of a B-2 bomber with a device similar to one NASA would use as a re-entry vehicle. It’s ready to fly (RTF) out of the box and you simply just have to attach the wings and let it rip. Controlling the Disco is as easy as connecting it to the Flight Plan companion app and flying it with the Skycontroller.

Propulsion for the new bird is facilitated by an electric motor and propeller at the rear of the vehicle, which is capable of cruising up to 50MPH. Dominating the nose of the vehicle, is a camera that boasts shooting full video in a first person view at 1080p while flying. Pilots can also enjoy a long 45-minute flight time courtesy of the ultra-lightweight battery located in the belly of the craft.

Parrot’s Bebop drone has lent the Disco its 3-axis digital stabilization for solid flying capabilities and safe experience at all levels. The tranquil flying experience doesn’t end with the gyro: there are assisted flying modes, such as Waypoints with Flight Plan and Automatic Landing, so the Disco lands in one piece.

The Disco is expected to fly into stores sometime later this year.
